Nan Province
Nan is a wide province, largely bordered by Laos on west and North. The province is nearly entirely forest and mountain covered, except the Nan river valley.
Nan city is not well known by westerners and other tourists, nevertheless it is a charming small city with a few attractions as the National Museum and many beautiful Temples.
Arriving in Nan
You can drive from Chiangmai and it will take 5 hours.
Flight connection from Bangkok is scarce. The town is desserved by SGA Airlines. No flights from Chiangmai.
By Bus
Buses are a cheap option for getting to Nan from Chiang-Mai. There are several buses perday, leaving from the Chiangmai Arcade bus station.
Cultural Exploration
River rafting on the Nam Wah river. Can be done in two or three days expedition.
Explore Doi Phuka National Park, in the Pua district.
Visit the border village of Huay Khon, with Laos, an actual official international border.
Trekking
jungle treks can be organized in the province, but at the time being ActiveThailand is not proposing a trekking there.
Where to Stay
Devarajh Hotel / tourist
Good location in the center of town. A large building, not charming at all, but clean and efficient.
