General Information
River Rafting Season on the Pai river: Begin of June until end of January.
This trip is an overnight expedition and participants must be ready for a real adventure. Our experienced raft captains will handle all aspects of your trip. As they are locals to the area, they are familiar with the river and the jungle. They will be happy to answer any question you may have and share with you their knowledge of nature and traditions of the Mae Hong Son province.
While on the rafts, we need to keep the weight down. We require participants to carry a minimum, approximately the size of a standard plastic carrier bag. To help you make a choice, we recommend you limit yourself to the packing list which we provide. All your remaining personal items will be safely kept at our Pai office and transferred to the arrival point on the following day.
Notes: Personal effects and belongings will travel in dry bags and watertight containers. We recommend participants not to travel with, or wear any jewelry items. Cameras and binoculars will be safely stored in watertight containers, and readily available at any time on the river.
Participants are required to wear a life jacket and helmet whenever traveling on the rafts.
We have prepared some general information about rafting, which we encourage you to read before joining our trips. The fact sheet will be sent to you with the trip confirmation. We use strong self-bailing paddle rafts and canoes. All international standard imported equipment of ECU standards, as life-jackets, helmets, Carlisle paddles and hypalon “Aqua-Design” rafts. (Same brand of boats used for the World White Water rafting Championship).
End of the trip options
The flight back to Chiangmai is on Nok Air /SGA Airlines as Thai Airways has discontinued their flights between Chiangmai and Mae Hong Son. Currently the most convenient flight is DD948 departing Mae Hong Son Airport at 17:15, and arriving to Chiangmai airport at 17:50. Please check with our office or the schedule on NokAir website at http://www.nokair.com for latest updates.
ActiveThailand is not responsible of flight delays or eventual cancellation from the contracted airline. ActiveThailand is only the airline ticket provider, part of this tour package, but can not be held responsible in case of any schedule change. The participants will have to deal with the airline in case problem should arise. We therefore recommend a night Chiangmai on that 3rd day, before planning any other trip continuation.
